Outpatient Ultrasound

Imaging Services Now Available 7 Days a Week!

Bridgetown Veterinary Emergency and Specialty offers Outpatient Imaging at the request of a veterinarian.

Imaging services include:

  1. Abdominal
  2. Cervical

The Outpatient Ultrasound service is meant to provide imaging for stable patients but should the pet need emergency care during their visit, they will be directed to our Emergency Department, located in the same building.

Your patients will be evaluated by a veterinarian. If diagnostic samples are recommended, sedation is required or admission to the hospital is necessary, this will be under the direction of a veterinarian. Unless required, the imaging findings will not be discussed with your client during the appointment. A final report will be emailed to you within 48 hours of the examination.

Preparing my pet for an abdominal ultrasound:

  • Please do not feed your pet for 12 hours prior to the ultrasound exam. A small amount of water is okay.
  • If your pet has medical issues that make fasting impossible, such as diabetes, feeding prior to the exam is okay.
  • If your pet requires oral sedation to facilitate a visit to the hospital, please have your primary veterinarian provide a prescription in advance of the appointment.
  • The ultrasound scan will take approximately 30-45 minutes and your pet’s abdomen will be shaved for optimal imaging.
  • Within 48 hours of the exam, a report will be sent to your veterinarian.

Scheduling Information:

Ultrasound exams will be scheduled as either an appointment or as a drop-off visit.

  • If an appointment was made, please arrive approximately 15 minutes before the scheduled exam time. Your pet will be taken to our ultrasound suite for the exam.
  • If a drop-off appointment is scheduled, your pet will stay with us for the afternoon, and we will call you once the ultrasound is complete and when your pet is ready to go home.

A detailed estimate of services will be provided to you at the time of your appointment.

Payment may be made by cash or credit and is due at the time of service.
