The Outpatient Echocardiogram service is meant to provide imaging for stable patients but should the pet need emergency care during their visit, they will be directed to our Emergency Department, located in the same building.

Your patients will be evaluated by a veterinarian. If diagnostic samples are recommended, sedation is required or admission to the hospital is necessary, this will be under the direction of a veterinarian. Unless required, the imaging findings will not be discussed with your client during the appointment. A final report will be emailed to you within 48 hours of the examination.

Indications for a referral to our Outpatient Service:

  1. Evaluation of new or stable Heart Murmurs
  2. Congenital Heart Defect Screening
  3. Pre-anesthesia cardiac imaging
  4. Coughing: Heart vs. Lung?

Preparing your pet for an Echocardiogram:

  • No need to withhold food or water for this exam.
  • It is okay to give all cardiac medications as directed prior to the appointment.
  • If your pet requires oral sedation to facilitate a visit to the hospital, please have your primary veterinarian provide a prescription in advance of the appointment.
  • The Echocardiogram will take approximately 45-60 minutes and the sides of your pets chest will be shaved for optimal imaging.
  • Within 48 hours of the exam, a report will be sent to your veterinarian.

Scheduling Information:

Echocardiogram exams will be scheduled as either an appointment or as a drop-off visit.

  • If an appointment was made, please arrive approximately 15 minutes before the scheduled exam time. Your pet will be taken to our imaging suite for the exam.
  • If a drop-off appointment is scheduled, your pet will stay with us for the afternoon, and we will call you once the echocardiogram is complete and when your pet is ready to go home.

A detailed estimate of services will be provided to you at the time of your appointment.

Payment may be made by cash or credit and is due at the time of service.
